NOT a God-send

I have avoided publishing this post for over a month probably due to depression and exhaustion stemming from the disasterous g-tube experience thus far.  This is just a quick summary of that past month of life with a g-tube.

Pre-surgery video

Pauly's perfect little belly pre-surgery.

P sucking away on his bink which he will have nothing to do with post-surgery =(

It has not exactly been the God-send we were told it was going to be.  Starting with the "mis-adventure" during the actual surgery, following by an infection with the site, feeding intolerance, hysterical screaming and finally, inflamation of Paul's stomach lining ... or as I call it, the cherry ontop of the crap sundae.  It has been more of a nightmare than anything!

Post Surgery screaming ... lasted about 3 weeks  =(

Tummy inflamation causing bleeding in his belly.

I will spare you all the photos of the infected site ........ you are welcome =)

So,  we have now have him on a continuous feeding at just over and ounce and hour at all times.  We taken him off breastmilk (insert mommy sobs here) and put him on a very elemental formula that he doesn't have to do anything to break down and got some medication for his tummy.   I am hopeful we will get this all sorted out and make Paul much more comfortable very soon.  It is heart-wrenching to watch when he is in pain.  But the good new is that he has more happy moments especially when his daddy sings to him (Micah is going to KILL me for posting this but I just couldn't resist) ... I love my boys!!
