1. Paul is sick and hasn't eaten in ... Oh, about 9 hours. We spent the entire afternoon at the Children's Hospital High Risk Clinic (for a set appointment, not because he is sick). The doctor's nurses and therapist there are amazing. They took so much time with us and answers lots of questions and had a lot of good suggestions for us concerning the little man. Paul has NEVER been a good eater. First, he suffered from pretty severe reflux which seems to have improved significantly over the past month or so. Now he just has some sort of adversion to eating. He has all the necessary skills (suck, swallow, breath) to eat, he just doesn't enjoy it. It has turned into a battle which unfortunately, Paul usually wins. This causes us all loads of stress and tears.
I nursed all of my other kids for about a year each and I have no idea how much they ate. With Paul, I have a massive spreadsheet that I have recorded every milliliter that he has ever eaten. He has continued to grow and thrive, which is wonderful but I think feeding him is honestly the hardest thing I have ever done. It sounds silly but it is true. So, now what do we do to help him and reduce his anxiety? We are faced again with the dreaded G Tube that we have fought so hard to avoid. No decisions have been made and he may not even need it for very long ... just to get him over this hump and make eating a pleasurable experience. Please remember us in your prayers so we can make the right decision for our sweet boy.
We are also scheduled for speech therapy (mainly for help with eating solids), another swallow study and also and upper GI. I am sure there is more but I just can't remember at the moment.
Oh, and the other reason my stomach is hurting at the moment .....
2. 2 live lobsters arrived in the mail ... yes, the mail ... today. Thanks Micah. I could never personally cook a live lobster so I am totally freaking out about what to do with them. I swear, I am on the train headed for crazy town!! It is a good thing the girls were asleep when we figured out they were alive in the box because I am sure that they would insist on having 2 new pets ... haha! Instead, Andy came over and saved the day ... the Geier's are gonna be eating good tomorrow =)
