Magic Swing

Swinging, Swinging on my magic swing

We swing so high we touch the sky

On our magic swing

Repeat…

Everyday is an adventure which is good because I like to stay busy.  Over the summer, just like lots of families, we went to the park to eat and play.  Of course, the girls love it and we can barely drag them out of the place.  It weighed on my mind a bit that Paul didn’t really have anything to do there.  We have an infant swing at home and it is his joy.  I want him to be able to enjoy the park with his family as well.

Recently, I decided to contact the Warren County Parks District to find out if there were any accessible playgrounds near us and found out the not a single park in all of Warren County had a swing for anyone that couldn’t support themselves. All kids deserve the opportunity to play …. this will just not do.  Inclusion is an important concept to us.

Micah and I were invited to attend a Friends of Warren County Parks meeting this afternoon to try to change this.  They are a not-for-profit group of volunteers that work closely with the park district to raise funds for the improvement of the parks. Of course, funding is an issue but we will be working towards getting our boy and some of his friends some swings to enjoy at the parks.

We were encouraged by their 100% support and willingness to help.  Now we will do some research to select the best type of swing for durability, comfort, support and of course, cost.  Then we can move forward with selecting parks and raising funds to have them installed.  Hopefully you will start seeing swings something like this soon!
