Our Amazing Girls

Sometimes my kids amaze me ...  Seriously,  I am amazed how many times I have to tell them to flush the toilet ... at what their handwriting looks like ... at the crap they leave in the back seat of my van (that stuff is growing legs).  Sure, they look all sweet and innocent but they have their moments ... still, they never cease to amaze me in good ways too!

Our AMAZING Girls!
All 3 of them adore Paul and it absolutely melts my heart.  They are so proud of him.  I love to hear them teach there friends about Paul and work with him.  To them, he is just a regular little brother and they throw him around and make him play dolls with them. There are moments that I can literally feel my heart swelling out of my chest with pride and gratitude for these crazy little girls. He has 3 extra little mama's. They are his  advocates too, and they have kept me going in some of my darkest moments.

I was going through my oldest daughter’s journal from school and came across this entry.  Oh, and by the way, I got permission to share this =)

It reads….

9-4-13

"It is awesome to have a special needs brother.  He tot me a lot.  He tot me how to be brave and to just be happy.  He is sooooo cute.  I mean cute.  And he loves Mumford and sons.  His favorite is I will wait.  His nickname is tall Paul.  He helps me to remember that God is with me.  I love Paul."

Lilly was having a little bit of trouble with the transition back to school and suffering from some anxiety.  She really likes school so I was trying to figure out what exactly the root of the problem was.  I asked her if there was anything about Paul that was making her upset and her response was     “ No, I think Paul is one of God’s angels so he actually makes me feel more safe.” She is almost 8 but has always been wise beyond her years.

I am so proud of her.  She wants to be physical therapist so she can helps more kids like P.  I told her nothing would make me prouder.
Hope Lilly doesn't get this kid as a patient
if she becomes a PT
I worry about my girls every day and the impact our situation has on them.  I worry they may miss out on things and become resentful.  Our lives have revolved around Paul for the past two years … he is a really difficult kid (not that you can tell from the photo above or anything) and a lot of work … there really is no way around that.  I did come to the point when I knew I had to make an extra effort to give the girls the individual attention that they need and deserve.  The love that exudes from these girls is abundant.  I know why God gave me them first and feel so much comfort in knowing that P will always have them.   I know that what they will gain from having Pauly for a brother will far outweigh what they will miss.
